Basketball Game Preview: Monroe Catholic Rams vs. Seward Seahawks

The Monroe Catholic Rams will be taking part in a tournament against the Seward Seahawks at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Monroe Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: North Pole, who was ranked 21st at the time (Monroe Catholic was ranked 16th). The Rams managed a 45-41 win over the Patriots on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Seward on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Homer out of the water with a 60-26 final score. The Seahawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 games by 25 points or more this season.

Seward's victory bumped their record up to 16-0. As for Monroe Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Monroe Catholic came up short against Seward in their previous meeting back in January of 2018, falling 35-31. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
