Softball Recap: Karns City Beats Clarion-Limestone for Their Fifth Straight Win

Karns City entered their tilt with Clarion-Limestone on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Gremlins, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Addison Burrows spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Lyrik Reed was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Karns City's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Clarion-Limestone, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Karns City will welcome Keystone at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clarion-Limestone, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Johnsonburg at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
