Basketball Recap: Wiley Drops Season-High Score on Holly

Wiley scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 61-49 to the Holly Wildcats. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

When it comes to explaining why Wiley lost, don't look at Rhett McDonald. Despite the final result, he posted 25 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave McDonald a new career-high in points. Milton Hernandez was another key player, putting up eight points and ten boards.

It was another big night for Devin Eaton, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds for Holly. That makes it three consecutive games in which Eaton has scored at least a third of Holly's points. Another player making a difference was Drayden Williams, who had 11 points along with six boards and three steals.

Wiley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Holly, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Wiley has already played their next matchup (against Eads), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Holly wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 68-33 loss against Crowley County on the 14th.
