Basketball Recap: Pasadena Memorial Takes a Loss

Pasadena Memorial extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 9-21. They took a blow against the Shadow Creek Sharks, falling 98-43. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 775th, while the Sharks are ranked 31st).

Despite the loss, Pasadena Memorial still got an impressive performance from Madisyn McGrew, who posted 26 points and five boards. That was a full 60.5% of the Mavericks' points, marking the sixth time in a row McGrew has put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Casey Crawford, who went 7-for-16 on her way to 13 points.

As for Shadow Creek, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 28-4. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 21 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Shadow Creek's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Courtland Cloud, who shot 67% from the field en route to 24 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Cloud has posted since back in December of 2025. Kurynn McNeill was another key player, going 7-for-10 to rack up 19 points along with five assists and five boards.

Coincidentally, Pasadena Memorial and Shadow Creek will both be playing Pearland the next time they take the court. The Mavericks will head out to face the Oilers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Sharks will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
