Softball Recap: Elgin Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cory-Rawson on Wednesday, Elgin came back down to earth. The Comets came up short against the Cardington-Lincoln Pirates on Thursday, falling 21-2. If the Comets were looking for revenge after losing 18-3 to the Pirates when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Elgin's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Cardington-Lincoln, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elgin will venture away from home to square off against Marion Harding at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Comets are facing the Presidents at the right time seeing as the Presidents are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Cardington-Lincoln, they will head out to challenge Pleasant at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
