South Pasadena hasn't had much luck against Temple City recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Rams at 3:30 p.m. South Pasadena is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
South Pasadena had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Monrovia on Friday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Wildcats. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Lucia Atencio spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on two hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Natalie Kan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Racquel Dominguez, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
South Pasadena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monrovia only posted an OBP of .269.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Temple City was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They came up short against La Canada, falling 12-1. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Temple City saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Iliannie Carrillo, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
South Pasadena's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Temple City, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
