Football Game Preview: Chilton Pirates vs. Mart Panthers + How To Watch

Chilton is 0-5 against Mart since October of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Pirates will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Chilton is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

While Chilton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took down Goldthwaite 14-0 on Friday. Give the Pirates' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

It was another big night for Marneko Thomas Jr., who rushed for 177 yards on only 14 carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 102.2 rushing yards per game.

Thomas Jr. was just one part of a punishing run game: Chilton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 167 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mart challenged Bremond on Friday. The Panthers fell 28-20 to the Tigers.

Although Mart took the loss, they still got scores from Damian Davis, Quinn Preston, and Zach Medlock.

Mart's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Chilton, their record now sits at 4-0.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Chilton has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 183.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mart struggles in that department as they've been averaging 169.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Chilton might still be hurting after the 30-7 defeat they got from Mart in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
