Softball Recap: Logan Sets Scoring Season-High Against Tucumcari

Logan had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-7 to make it four. They took a 33-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tucumcari Rattlers. On the bright side, the 28- run effort marked the Longhorns' highest-scoring contest to date.

As for Tucumcari, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 24.5 runs over those games.

For Tucumcari's part, Caylee Benavidez was a standout: she went 6-for-7 with one home run, five stolen bases, and five runs. Those six hits gave Benavidez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Knapp, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-5.

While Logan had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
