After a string of nine wins, Mayfield's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Nordonia Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since April 7th.
The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Nordonia scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-17, 25-19.
Luke Smiley paced Mayfield's offense, picking up seven kills. Smiley really made an impact as he also led the team in assists with 13. Bobby Mickshaw controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Mayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 15-3. As for Nordonia, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5.
