Softball Game Preview: Plymouth Wildcats vs. South Lyon East Cougars

The Plymouth Wildcats will head out to face off against the South Lyon East Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Plymouth came up short against Divine Child on Friday, falling 9-3. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Plymouth saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Simko, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Simko has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, South Lyon East didn't have quite enough to beat Lakeland on Tuesday and fell 13-12. The Cougars have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Olivia McPherson (2026) was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Jankowski (2026), who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

South Lyon East's defeat dropped their record down to 14-17. As for Plymouth, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Plymouth hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like South Lyon East struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
