Baseball Game Preview: St. Augustine Yellow Jackets vs. Mandarin Mustangs

The St. Augustine Yellow Jackets will take on the Mandarin Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

St. Augustine is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Clay just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils.

St. Augustine saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddux Dowler, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mandarin also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Bolles by a score of 6-3. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

Mandarin's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for St. Augustine, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

St. Augustine took their victory against Mandarin in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Augustine since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
