Softball Recap: Medford Has No Trouble Against Marathon

Medford never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past the Marathon Red Raiders 6-0. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Rylee Hraby was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

Hraby wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Laney Hraby, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits Laney has posted since back in March. Another was Chelsea Gebauer, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Medford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marathon only posted a batting average of .111.

Medford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Marathon, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-8.

Medford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-3 victory against New London on the 27th. Marathon has also already played their next contest (against Edgar), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
