Softball Recap: Johnson Wins Going Away Against Valley

Johnson never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Valley Vikings as they made off with a 21-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won eight in a row.

Anissa Zavala and Violet Vega made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Zavala tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Vega tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Zavala has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances. At bat, Zavala went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases, while Vega got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was Vega's first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Valicianna Collins-Hogan, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Madison, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Johnson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .455 or higher in eight consecutive matches.

Johnson's record is now 16-3. As for Valley, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Johnson nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
