Softball Recap: Neoga Indians vs. Tuscola Warriors
Neoga had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-13 to make it 13. They came up short against the Tuscola Warriors, falling 11-1. The Indians were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in April of 2019.
Neoga saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Propst, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
As for Tuscola, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.
On Tuscola's side, Bayleigh Taylor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Taylor has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Ava Boyer was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Sawyer Cleland also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Looking ahead, Neoga will face off against Ramsey at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tuscola, they will head out on the road to square off against Clinton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Maroons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
