Basketball Recap: Sheridan Snaps 11-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Sheridan entered their matchup against Covenant Christian on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Sheridan Blackhawks took a 74-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Covenant Christian Warriors. If the Blackhawks were looking for revenge after losing 53-50 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Sheridan still got an impressive performance from Caleb Wright, who went 11 of 16 en route to 28 points and eight boards. That's the most rebounds Wright has posted since back in February of 2024. Damon Winston was another key player, going 9 for 18 on his way to 21 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Sheridan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Covenant Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cason Soots, who went 7 of 16 en route to 20 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Crane, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 15 points along with five assists and five boards.

Sheridan's loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-4. As for Covenant Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Sheridan will square off against Herron at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sheridan is facing Herron at the right time seeing as Herron is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Covenant Christian, they will face off against Triton Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Triton Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.
