Football Recap: Carlsbad Skates Past Del Norte with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against La Costa Canyon, Carlsbad was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 34-6 win over the Del Norte Nighthawks. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Nighthawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carlsbad to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ian Wall, who rushed for 138 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and also caught one TD. Those 138 rushing yards gave Wall a new career-high. Another signal caller making a difference was Eli MacNeal, who threw for 175 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carlsbad was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 285 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Carlsbad's record is now 9-1. As for Del Norte, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Carlsbad will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on La Costa Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Lancers will need to watch out since the Mavericks have now posted at least 31 points in their last five games. As for Del Norte, they are taking a road trip to face off against Rancho Bernardo at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th.
