Soccer Game Preview: Vanden vs. Rio Linda

The Vanden Vikings will take on the Rio Linda Knights in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vanden is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

If Rio Linda heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Vanden took over last week. Vanden had just enough and edged Mira Loma out 2-1.

Juan Sotelo was the driving force of Vanden's attack as he scored both of Vanden's goals, bringing his season total up to five goals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rio Linda). Their defense stepped up to hand Casa Roble a 4-0 shutout on Monday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their one-goal performance the contest before.

Vanden pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three matchups. As for Rio Linda, the victory got them back to even at 3-3-2.
