Basketball Game Preview: Andover Central Jaguars vs. Highland Park Scots

The Andover Central Jaguars will take on the Highland Park Scots at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Andover Central sitting on five straight wins and Highland Park on 23 (dating back to last season).

Andover Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Eisenhower by a score of 61-49. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Tigers are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jayden Brown was his usual excellent self, going 8-for-14 en route to 22 points and five assists. What's more, he also posted a 57% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Jace Adler was another key player, shooting 67% from the field on his way to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Highland Park strolled past Basehor-Linwood with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 53-35. The Scots pushed the score to 42-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bobcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Highland Park pushed their record up to 22-0 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points over those games. As for Andover Central, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
