Softball Preview: Woodlawn Cardinals vs. Waltonville Spartans
The Woodlawn Cardinals will venture away from home to challenge the Waltonville Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Woodlawn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Woodlawn came out on top against Grayville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run second inning. The Cardinals blew past the Bison 17-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.

Rylee Pryor made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Woodlawn got a massive performance out of Hanley Lamacchia, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Lamacchia continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Zaylee Kirkpatrick was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Woodlawn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grayville only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, Waltonville waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.
Woodlawn's record is now 6-8. As for Waltonville, their record now sits at 10-5.
