Football Game Preview: Kingsway Dragons vs. Clearview Pioneers

The Kingsway Dragons are taking a road trip to challenge the Clearview Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kingsway knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Clearview likes a good challenge.

Kingsway's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They breezed past Hammonton to the tune of 33-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Dragons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Blue Devils are ranked 122nd).

Kingsway didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Za'Hir Paynter and Cole DeNick. Paynter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Clearview's offense. They took a blow against Cherry Hill East on Friday, falling 42-0.

Kingsway's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.0 points on average over those games. As for Clearview, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything came up roses for Kingsway against Clearview when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 62-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
