Basketball Recap: Mt. Blue Comes Up Short

Mt. Blue was the 51-43 winner over Brewer when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mt. Blue Cougars fell just short of the Brewer Witches by a score of 35-32 on Thursday. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Witches 9-4 in the first quarter.

Brewer got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Owen Fullerton out in front who posted nine points and six assists. Those six assists gave Fullerton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Perry, who put up six points and four steals.

Mt. Blue's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Brewer, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Blue will take on Oxford Hills at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oxford Hills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Brewer, they will square off against Lawrence at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Brewer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season.
