Recap: Sabinal Yellowjackets vs. Bruni Badgers
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Sabinal Yellowjackets had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They blew past Bruni 40-8 at home. Considering Sabinal has won four matchups by more than 25 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sabinal to victory, but perhaps none more so than Israel Gonzales, who rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Sergio Vasquez was another key contributor, throwing for 164 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes.
Sabinal has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 5-5 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Charlotte and 2-8 La Pryor (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30% over those games). As for Bruni, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Sabinal does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bruni also has no future games currently scheduled.
