Football Game Preview: Richland Royals vs. Granbury Pirates + How To Watch

The Richland Royals will venture away from home to square off against the Granbury Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Richland is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Ryan just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 30-21 to the Raiders. While the Royals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 14-7 in the first quarter.

Richland might have lost, but man, Jayshon Gibson was a machine: he rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns. Gibson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 167 rushing yards. Brett Kates was another key player, rushing for 100 yards on only 12 carries.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Granbury's offense. They took a blow against Aledo on Friday, falling 61-0. The Pirates have struggled against the Bearcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Richland's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Granbury, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Richland against Granbury in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 51-14 victory. In that game, the Royals amassed a halftime lead of 44-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
