Baseball Recap: Robbinsville Comes Up Short

Robbinsville extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-13 in the process. They came up short against the Hayesville Yellowjackets, falling 11-0. Considering the last time the Black Knights couldn't score was back in February, the team can't take the result too hard.

As for Hayesville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

For Hayesville's part, the team relied heavily on Ben Bethel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Bethel has become a key player for the Yellowjackets: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Cooper Matheson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hayesville beat Robbinsville by a score of 12-0 later that day.
