Volleyball Recap: Nashville Hornets vs. Althoff Catholic Crusaders
Nashville had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Althoff Catholic Crusaders on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Hornets sure are getting used to it with their 18th in a row.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21.
Nashville's offense was headlined by
Carly Kasten and
Emma Behrmann, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from
Scarlet Konkel and her 15 assists. Finally,
Summer Brinkmann kept Nashville's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Despite the loss, Althoff Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Riley Fairbairn had 15 digs. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Fairbairn.
Nashville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 23 of their last 24 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 33-3 record this season. As for Althoff Catholic, they moved to 24-12 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
