Recap: Sotomayor WILDCATS vs. O'Connor Panthers

The Sotomayor WILDCATS's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a tough 38-17 defeat at the hands of O'Connor. Sotomayor lost against O'Connor in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 38-21 score last time.

Despite the loss, Sotomayor still got an impressive performance from Henry Alonzo, who threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns.

Even if they lost, Sotomayor's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Shawn Wasley and his two sacks.

O'Connor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryder Dorn out in front who threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Brayden Hennig was another key contributor, rushing for 61 yards and two touchdowns.

Sotomayor's defeat was their third straight at home , which bumped their record down to 4-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for O'Connor, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7.

Sotomayor will square off against Warren at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for O'Connor, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Holmes at 2:00 p.m. Holmes comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
