Baseball Game Preview: Bay Port Pirates vs. Notre Dame Academy Tritons

Bay Port and Notre Dame Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Pirates will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Tritons at 4:30 p.m. Bay Port will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Bay Port's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They skirted past Manitowoc Lincoln 2-0.

Not much got past Parker Lawson, who gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Manitowoc Lincoln off the board. Lawson also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bay Port is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Bay Port's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Brady, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Jack Huben was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Appleton East by a score of 10-8.

Jack Frelich made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Christian Collins, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Bay Port's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Notre Dame Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
