Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Warrior Run

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Warrior Run walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Montoursville Warriors on Thursday, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Defenders have posted against the Warriors since May 13, 2016.

Mackenzie Litchard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maura Woland was incredible, firing off three home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Warrior Run lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win (which was Warrior Run's sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Montoursville, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 15-7 record.

As of now, neither Warrior Run nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
