Basketball Recap: McKenzie Tigers vs. Highland Home Flying Squadron
McKenzie came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were dealt a 55-14 defeat at the hands of the Highland Home Flying Squadron. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 413th, while the Flying Squadron are ranked 130th).
Leading Highland Home to victory were Anicah Rodgers and Zamyia Scott. Rodgers almost dropped a triple-double with 17 points, 12 boards, and nine steals, while Scott dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Rodgers is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Annsley Garrard, who posted 11 points and seven boards.
McKenzie's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Highland Home, they pushed their record up to 25-4 with the victory, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
McKenzie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Highland Home, they have already played their next matchup, a 33-22 win against Marbury on the 2nd.
