Soccer Game Preview: Lakeside vs. Woodward Academy

The Lakeside Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Woodward Academy War Eagles on Friday. Lakeside's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Lakeside is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Decatur just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Woodward Academy kept a clean sheet against Shiloh on Thursday. They blew past the Generals 3-0. The War Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by three goals or more this season.

Woodward Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those three contests. As for Lakeside, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.

Lakeside was able to grind out a solid win over Woodward Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, winning 3-1. Will Lakeside repeat their success, or does Woodward Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
