Basketball Game Preview: Greensburg Pirates vs. Washington Hatchets

The Greensburg Pirates will face off against the Washington Hatchets at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Greensburg comes in on 24 and Washington on 21.

Greensburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Jennings County by a score of 60-50. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Panthers are ranked 56th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greensburg to victory, but perhaps none more so than Claire Larrison, who went 8 for 12 on her way to 18 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah West, who went 5 of 8 to rack up 14 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Washington was able to grind out a solid victory over Princeton on Saturday, taking the game 49-37.

Washington's win came from a few key players Greensburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Olivia Gilley, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. What's more, she also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Katie Reed was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Washington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They are a perfect 9-0 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Greensburg's win bumped their record up to 24-0. As for Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 23-2.
