Basketball Game Preview: Rochester Rockets vs. Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones

Rochester hasn't had much luck against Sacred Heart-Griffin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rochester Rockets will venture away from home to face off against the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones at 7:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Rochester was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 47-42 to Lanphier. The match marked the Rockets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Eli Cox, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave him a new career-high. Khorbin Gregory was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sacred Heart-Griffin, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They snuck past Bloomington Central Catholic with a 56-51 victory on Tuesday.

Sacred Heart-Griffin has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Rochester, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5.

Rochester was able to grind out a solid win over Sacred Heart-Griffin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 54-42. Will Rochester repeat their success, or does Sacred Heart-Griffin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
