The St. Mary's Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Sacred Heart Academy Sharks at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Mary's will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Sacred Heart Academy's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: St. Mary's hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Lancers were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Mount St. Mary Academy on Thursday. Considering the Lancers have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ella Dovey made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dovey was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Lexi Brown was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Alexa Saunders was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
St. Mary's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart Academy came up short against Nardin Academy on Thursday and fell 5-2. The Sharks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Emma Popp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
St. Mary's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Sacred Heart Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Sacred Heart Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Mary's has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .491. It's a different story for Sacred Heart Academy, though, as they've only averaged .356. Will they be able to contain St. Mary's hitters?
St. Mary's took their victory against Sacred Heart Academy in their previous matchup last Tuesday by a conclusive 10-0 score.
