Football Recap: Billy Dunn and James Simpson Secure Win for Escambia + How To Watch

Escambia won the last time they faced Navarre and things went their way on Friday too. The Gators came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 29-19. The Gators' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Escambia to victory were James Simpson and Billy Dunn. Simpson gained 159 total yards and a touchdown, while Dunn threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes. Those three passing touchdowns gave Dunn a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Navarre had strong showings from Roman Marshall, who threw for 137 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 passes, and Brody Powers, who picked up 71 receiving yards and one score. Powers' longest reception was for an impressive 59 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.

The win made it two in a row for Escambia and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 22 points in those games. As for Navarre, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coming up, Escambia will be playing in front of their home fans against Pensacola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Navarre, they are taking a road trip to face off against Crestview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
