Basketball Recap: Carolina International Picks Up 13th Straight Win at Home

Carolina International had won 12 straight home games dating back to last season and KJ Shouse Jr. did his part to make it 13 on Thursday. The Carolina International Comets snuck past the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots with a 74-69 win thanks in part to Shouse Jr., who went 13 of 16 en route to 29 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Another player making a difference was Rylan Leak, who posted five points. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

Piedmont Community Charter's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Neves McElhaney, who earned 16 points and six boards. Henry Peprah was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Carolina International is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Carolina International will host Sugar Creek Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Valor Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
