Basketball Recap: Southwood Comes Up Short

Southwood was the 56-43 winner over Parkway when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Southwood Cowboys came up short against the Parkway Panthers on Friday, falling 53-30. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while the Panthers are ranked 58th).

Despite the loss, Southwood still got an impressive performance from Eric Fuller, who posted eight points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Lyquinton Pinkney, who earned six points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Southwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Southwood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Parkway, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.

Southwood has already played their next matchup, a 60-41 loss against Lincoln Prep on the 21st. As for Parkway, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-68 victory against Huntington on the 21st.
