Volleyball Game Preview: Layton Lancers vs. Weber Warriors

Layton is 0-4 against Weber since April of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Lancers will head out on the road to take on the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Layton is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Fremont. While the Lancers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Silverwolves 25-17 in the first set.

Layton actually scored more points across those five sets (104-103), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 15-10.

Meanwhile, Weber came up short against Syracuse on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost four in a row.

Weber started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-21.

Layton's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Weber, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Layton couldn't quite get it done against Weber in their previous meeting two weeks ago as they fell 3-1. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
