Baseball Recap: Bethlehem Central Eagles vs. Colonie Central Wolfpack

Bethlehem Central had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it five. They came up short against the Colonie Central Wolfpack, falling 13-3. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolfpack apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Bethlehem Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Matrose, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Matrose has brought in this season.

As for Colonie Central, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

On Colonie Central's side, Braden Fields tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Fields has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carter Hufland was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Figueroa, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethlehem Central will face off against Ballston Spa at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Scotties will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Colonie Central, they will challenge Niskayuna at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
