Basketball Recap: Mackenzie Farinella's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tipton over Rossville

Tipton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They came up short against the Rossville Hornets, falling 62-38. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2018.

Tipton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mackenzie Farinella, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. That's the most points Farinella has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Makayla Schinlaub, who scored 12 points.

Ava Burkle was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds for Rossville. Burkle also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Rossville is 11-2 when she posts at least three steals, but 3-6 otherwise. Madilyn Seest also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steals of the season.

Tipton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Rossville, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.

Tipton has already played their next game, a 62-12 loss against Sheridan on the 7th. As for Rossville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-33 win against Frontier on the 7th.
