Volleyball Recap: Soddy Daisy Trojans vs. Signal Mountain Eagles
After flying high against Sequatchie County last Wednesday, Soddy Daisy came back down to earth. The Soddy Daisy Trojans fell 3-1 to the Signal Mountain Eagles on Thursday. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Soddy Daisy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 28-26, 25-12.
Even though they lost, Soddy Daisy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive games.
Soddy Daisy's loss dropped their record down to 13-20-1. As for Signal Mountain, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season.
Soddy Daisy is on the road again on Tuesday to play Meigs County at 5:30 p.m. Meigs County will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Soddy Daisy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Signal Mountain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McMinn Central at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Signal Mountain is facing McMinn Central at the right time seeing as McMinn Central is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
