Basketball Recap: Santa Rita Drops Season-High Score on Maryvale Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Rita). They put the hurt on the Maryvale Prep Matador with a sharp 65-45 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.

Michael Ross continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vernon Johnson JR, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten assists.

Santa Rita's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Maryvale Prep, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Santa Rita will welcome St. John Paul II Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Maryvale Prep, they will be playing at home against Mayer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
