Baseball Game Preview: Reedsport vs. Lowell Devils

Reedsport will venture away from home to face off against the Lowell Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Reedsport will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

On Friday, Reedsport needed a bit of extra time to put away Myrtle Point. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bobcats 2-1. The two-run effort marked Reedsport's lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Lowell earned a 9-4 win over Elmira on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Devils.

Zak Hermansen was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Lowell's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Wyatt Johnson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Reedsport's victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Lowell, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Reedsport took their victory against Lowell in their previous meeting last Thursday by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Reedsport since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
