Baseball Recap: Whitman Has No Trouble Against Churchill

Whitman barely beat Churchill the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Whitman was the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over Churchill on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Whitman got a great performance from Wells Twining as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Twining has posted since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Charlie Buckles, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Dorian Smith, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Whitman now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Churchill, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Whitman will challenge rival Walter Johnson on Saturday. Meanwhile, Churchill is set to take on their familiar foe Northwest on Tuesday.
