Basketball Recap: Van-Far Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Van-Far lost to Hannibal back in January of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Van-Far Indians enjoyed a cozy 63-46 victory over the Hannibal Pirates. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Pirates are ranked 429th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pacey Reading continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 19 en route to 24 points and six rebounds. Gaven Gaston was another key player, going 7 of 9 on his way to 15 points.

Van-Far's record now sits at 13-3. As for Hannibal, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Van-Far is taking a road trip to challenge Palmyra at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Palmyra has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Hannibal, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kirksville at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st.
