Softball Recap: Munford Beats Childersburg for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Munford won the last time they faced Childersburg and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Munford Lions were the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over the Childersburg Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Brooklyn Pressley (2027) made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Addyson Britt (2027) and Kastin Lathem (2026) did most of the damage at the plate: Britt (2027) got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Lathem (2026) went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. That home run was Britt (2027)'s first of the season.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Munford, bringing their record for this year to 7-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.2 runs. As for Childersburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Munford will welcome Anniston at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Munford's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Anniston's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Childersburg, they will host Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
