Softball Recap: Aledo Snags 16th Victory in Last 17 Games

Aledo's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's tenth consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Azle Hornets a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won 17 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

TEMPE PERRY was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Aledo got a massive performance out of MARINA TAVERAS, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave TAVERAS a new career-high. KYLEIGH PAWLAK was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Aledo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Azle only posted a batting average of .087.

Aledo is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Azle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-13-2.

As of now, neither Aledo nor the Hornets have any future games scheduled.
