Recap: Sudan Hornets vs. Bovina Mustangs

The Sudan Hornets fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They put the hurt on Bovina with a sharp 40-18 win on Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-6.

Leading Sudan to victory were Marcello King and Trent Wilson. King rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns, while Wilson rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns.

Bovina's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Angel Lara, who gained 140 total yards and two touchdowns, and Daniel Herrera who threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns. Lara was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 60 yards.

Sudan's victory was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.8 points per game. As for Bovina, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Sudan will be playing at home against Ralls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Ralls is ranked 988th, while Sudan is ranked 964th). As for Bovina, they will head out on the road to face off against Lockney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lockney will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
