Softball Preview: Gadsden City Titans vs. Fort Payne Wildcats
The Gadsden City Titans will head out to square off against the Fort Payne Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Gadsden City has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Gadsden City fell victim to Southside and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 21-0. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Fort Payne entered their tilt with Sardis on Tuesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since February 29, 2024.
Harleigh Morgan made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Morgan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Morgan wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Lee, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Ava McGinnis also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
