Livermore is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Casa Grande is on a nine-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cowboys will host the Gauchos at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Livermore is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Alameda, sneaking past 6-4. The Cowboys haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Kaci Norton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sophia Gerochi, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Casa Grande ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past San Ramon Valley 3-2. That's two games straight that the Gauchos have won by just one run.
Casa Grande also let their pitcher toss all nine innings and she was also dialed-in: Lila Partridge gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. Partridge has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
Casa Grande is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Livermore, their victory bumped their record up to 19-8.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Livermore hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Casa Grande struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
