Baseball Recap: Pequea Valley Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Pequea Valley owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They came out on top against the Lancaster Mennonite Blazers by a score of 5-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-0 back in April.

Logan Zynn made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pequea Valley is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Zynn was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Zynn wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Stephen Smucker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs Smucker has posted since back in April of 2024. Another was Trevor Vollmer, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Pequea Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Pequea Valley pushed their record up to 8-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lancaster Mennonite, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Pequea Valley will head out to square off against Biglerville at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lancaster Mennonite, they will take on Lancaster County Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
